Sigmas, Welcome to Music City!
Nashville celebrated its 200 years as a city in 2006. Nashville has it all! You can listen to music representing all genres from country to blues, rock to jazz, gospel to bluegrass, and classical. To see and hear the different sounds of Music City - stop by the Grand Ole Opry, Printer’s Alley, the Bluebird Café or 2nd Avenue Entertainment District and world famous honky tonks - Tootsies Orchid Lounge and Robert’s Western World.
It is home to three professional sports teams, NCAA college athletics and sporting events. You can get a history lesson at the Hermitage, home of President Andrew Jackson, Historic Belle Meade Plantation, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts or the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum. Discover the Parthenon, the world’s only full-scale replica of the ancient Greek temple or hear all of the great stories from the Ryman Auditorium. And visit Nashville’s new state-of-the-art concert hall, Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
Nashville is also known as the "Athens of the South" for its dedication to higher learning and education. In the mid 1800s, many colleges were founded here. Today more than 17 colleges and universities call Middle Tennessee home.
From the music and dancing to the history and heritage to the sports and festivals and the great food, we hope you enjoy your time in Music City and come back to visit again!
